Cruising Like a Norwegian is Getting Sweeter

Carlo's Bake Shop items will be featured on board every Norwegian Ship

Norwegian Cruise Line announced today that Master Baker Buddy Valastro, star of the popular TLC television series "Cake Boss" and "Next Great Baker," who recently opened two Carlo's Bake Shop locations on board Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway, will now feature his incredible dessert creations on all Norwegian ships, fleet-wide.

"The Carlo's Bake Shop cakes and pastries on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway have been a huge hit with our guests," said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line's chief executive officer. "We are thrilled to make Cruising like a Norwegian even sweeter now by offering Buddy's incredible dessert creations to guests sailing on all of the ships in our fleet."

"Our ?family' is growing and we couldn't be happier," said Buddy Valastro. "Partnering with Norwegian to launch Carlo's on board Norwegian Breakaway and Getaway was an incredible experience and now we are so excited that cruisers on any of Norwegian's amazing ships will be able to enjoy our desserts during their vacations."

In the coming weeks, guests sailing on any Norwegian Cruise Line ship will have the opportunity to enjoy the delicious treats and confections that the original Carlo's bakery is known for, including: Carlo's Bake Shop's famous cannoli's, lobster tails, tiramisu, plus a variety of other unique cakes, cupcakes and Italian cookies.

Norwegian Epic will be the first ship to offer Carlo's Bakery items on board starting March 9, followed by Norwegian Dawn on March 16, Norwegian Jewel on March 23, Norwegian Star on March 30 and Norwegian Gem on April 8, 2014. The remaining ships will offer Carlo's items in the coming months. Carlo's Bake Shop dessert items will be featured in each ship's Java and Atrium Cafes and available for purchase a la carte.

About Buddy

Buddy Valastro is an accomplished fourth generation baker born into the business owned and operated by his parents. Buddy grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey in an old-fashioned Italian family and showed a flair for cake decorating at an early age.

At the age of 17, Buddy's father died. Suddenly, the only son had to take on the responsibilities of the patriarch. He thrived under pressure. With the help of his family, Buddy has taken Carlo's Bakery to new heights, including expanding the bakery outside of Hoboken for the first time. In 2013, Buddy and the famiglia opened three new bakeries, Carlo's Bakery Ridgewood, Carlo's Bakery Westfield, and Carlo's Bakery Red Bank, all located in New Jersey. Always thinking bigger and better, Buddy has plans for further expansion to new locations. Growing up in a family of incredible cooks, Buddy brought his family's classic Italian recipes to the table, opening his first restaurant, Buddy V's, in the Venetian Las Vegas.

Back in Hoboken, Buddy balances working at the bakery, spending time with his family and filming the next seasons of Cake Boss, which just wrapped its sixth season and Next Great Baker, currently filming its fourth season.

Buddy is married to his wife Lisa, and they have four children; Sofia, Buddy Jr. Marco and Carlo. When he's not at the bakery, Buddy loves nothing more than spending time with his family. He also enjoys bowling and fishing.
